2014 Luminous Hills Estate Grown Pinot Noir
By the time it was over, 2014 was the warmest vintage on record, but surprisingly one with characteristics that, counter to the relatively high temperatures, provided qualities for balance and verve to accompany richness and depth in the wines. Those characteristics included an early start, a generous crop (carrying more fruit slowed down sugar development and acid depletion). The 2014 "silver label" Luminous Hills blend is a seventeen-barrel selection from a broad range of the diverse elements of the Luminous Hills vineyard, including six blocks, four clones, and both volcanic and sedimentary soil types present in the vineyard. This wine represents the "big picture" story of what Luminous Hills was all about in the 2014 vintage: an elegant, complex, and layered wine.

2014 Luminous Hills Estate Grown LUX
The 2014 Lux is comprised of six barrels selected from Luminous Hills, with an emphasis on the lower elevation Pommard on sedimentary soil providing the darker fruit and bass notes. Complementary elegant red fruit from the 777 at higher elevation on Jory volcanic soil makes the wine complete and gives the wine balance. The Lux is a rich, hearty, and voluptuous Pinot Noir.

2013 Luminous Hills Estate Grown LUX
The Luminous Hills LUX is back for the 2013 vintage. As in past vintages, the 2013 LUX is a marriage of select lots of Pommard and 777, a traditional distinctive blend from Luminous Hills estate vineyard, drawing upon the darker more voluptuous qualities of the Pommard on lower elevation sedimentary soil, balanced with the more elegant red fruit character of the 777 on the upper elevation Jory volcanic soils. The exceptional growing season in 2013 afforded the qualities we seek for whole cluster fermentation, from which this blend utilized extensively, delivering added layers of complexity, earthy spicy notes, and extended ageablility. Luminous Hills Vineyard is LIVE Certified and Salmon Safe.

2014 Luminous Hills Estate Grown ASTRA
The 2014 Astra is drawn from five barrels in the southeast facing blocks at Luminous Hills, and exclusively from the 667 and 115 clones. The 667 on upper elevation Jory volcanic soil delivers more ethereal nuanced qualities, while the 115 from the lower elevation sedimentary soil provides darker fruit underpinnings and spicier notes. The 2014 Astra is a wine with dramatic aromatics and expression.

2015 Luminous Hills AURA Rose of Pinot Noir
The 2015 vintage was the warmest vintage on record in Oregon. Luminous Hills is a higher elevation and late ripening site which excels in this type of vintage, allowing for prolonged hang time without elevated sugars or depleted acidity. Additionally, this rosé benefits from being drawn from parcels in the vineyard that are farmed specifically to become rosé (leaving wings on clusters and less leaf-pulling around clusters, but otherwise maintaining the same crop load as the rest of the vineyard, optimized for the vintage). In this case we set aside blocks of 667, 777, and Pommard for this wine. These are picked separately, macerated for 3 to 4 days at extremely cold temperatures, then pressed off into neutral French oak barrels where it is fermented and aged for eight months producing a highly complex and rich, but still delicate and vibrant rosé.
